Website Changes- I've moved!

Hey Friends!

I decided to make the switch to having my own blog and store all in one site.  You can still follow me at jennychangtheartist.com, but you will be directed to a new site.

If you would like to read more about my thought process, check out this post on my new site.

New Cards in the Shop: Love is Weird

I've been wanting to print these cards for a long time and I'm so glad they are finally done!  You can now send your loved one a copy of my "Hedgehog Loves Pincushion" print, in card form.

Love is Weird Card

Inside the card says, "Love is weird. So are you."  Because you know, it's fun to tell someone you love that they are weird.

They are now listed in my shop so come and get 'em!

Gift Ideas- Wrapping a Necklace

Hey Friends!

Christmas is over but there are always more gift giving occasions on their way.  Here is an idea of how to wrap a present elegantly.

For Christmas this year, I made necklaces for my mom and my sister-in-law.  They were simple necklaces with the birthstones of each ladies children/grandchildren.

To package them, I cut out a piece of cardstock the size of a small brown box (you can find these at some craft stores).  I then cut some diagonal slits in the top of the paper.

To decorate this, I added a piece of fabric tape and stamped the word mom on it.

You can finish by wrapping another piece of fabric tape around the outside of the box.  You could also stamp on the outside of the box.

Fabric Christmas Wreath

Hey All!  I wanted to share my latest project with you.  Sadly I forgot to take pictures of the process, but I think you can figure it out from the finished piece.

I started by painting a piece of plain green fabric with various shades of blue, green, white, and silver.  After it dried, I cut out leaf shapes and traced each with sharpie.  I then did something similar with red fabric to make the berries and the ribbon.

Finally I used hot glue to attach them all to a wooden wreath base.  Done and done!

Toddler Christmas Tree

Christmas is coming and the crafts are happening.  If you have little ones running around your house, here is a project for you!

I've seen several felt Christmas trees on pinterest so this isn't really a new project, but I wanted to show you how I did mine to help inspire you!

I had a large piece of green felt that I cut into a Christmas tree shape (fold in half and cut a tree shape).  I then stuck the tree onto the wall using Command mounting strips.  I was pretty concerned that the kids would rip the tree right off the wall, but after about two weeks we are still good.  But if you have the type of children that will immediately rip things off the wall, you may need to experiment with something else.

The ornaments came from Michaels.  I found a kit for making a garland that was basically a set of felt Christmas shapes.  These worked perfectly.  Obviously you could cut your own, but this was easier for me.

Finally, I added a garland that I found in the Target dollar spot.  I used more Command hooks and attached one on either side of the tree.  The pom pom garland can then be hooked onto it.  My one-year-old doesn't get this at all but the three-year-old does.  So you may or may not want to use this with your kids.

I've been storing the ornaments in some Christmas gift boxes at the base of the tree.  They look pretty and also add some fun for the little boy who loves opening and closing boxes.

Christmas Cards: Under the Mistletoe

Hi All!

I recently got some Christmas cards printed up with one of my hedgehog paintings and I am VERY excited about them.  This is actually my third time trying to make these cards; I had some problems with my print shop.  Well, two print shops.  But third times a charm and thanks to Minuteman Press in Redmond, things are looking good.

You can buy these cards in my etsy shop both individually and in packs of five.  Order soon so you can get them by Christmas! (Order by December 19th to get them by December 24th- sooner if you want to send your cards in the mail! More info from USPS here)

Quick Project Idea- Bread Machine Recipe

Here's just a quick idea for you.  Use some vinyl to put a basic recipe on your bread machine.  I cut mine using my Silhouette machine, but I suppose you could do it by hand.

I found that every time I wanted to make a loaf of bread to go with dinner, I had to pull out my computer, pull up the pdf of my bread machine manual, and look up the basic recipe and the order I needed to add ingredients.  Now, when I want a basic loaf of bread, the recipe is already there.  I still look up other recipes at times, but even then I can refer to my machine to check the order to add things.
